- Module Three -  Bioinformatics System Installation and Administration.

Lectureson the design, and installation of bioinformatics units for medical research.

The bioinformatics unit design and system administration workshop is designed to bbe compatible with Linux/MacOS X or Windows/PC operating system.  We suggest running this module in a four to five day course (on the first day all software applications are loaded in the machines).
The workshop lectures includes a mixture of theoretical and pratical lectures on how to design, install and mantain an advanced bioinformatics unit for genetic research.


Day One:

Installation of the UNIX/Linux Operation System

Day Two:

Identification and Installation of software programs.

Day Three:

Development of a sequence database for local access using BLAST.
Installation of an integrated interface for genetic analysis.

Day Four:

System administration for Bioinformatics.

Day Five:

Use and mantainance of the bioinformatics software installed in the bioinformatics unit.
